Kayaking & Hikking – Nahuel Huapi National Park – 4 days

This is a great Multi-Sports Expedition in Nahuel Huapi National Park. This Expedition is specially designed for people looking for an adventure experience in Patagonia. Two days kayaking along the Lake Mascardi surrounded by an awesome landscape of mountains and forest and two days hiking in Mount Tronador.

Day 1: Kayaking time: 4/5 hrs. Distance to cover: 17km/10,5ml
Day 2: Kayaking time: 4 hrs. Distance to cover: 16km/10ml
Day 3: Hiking time: 5hrs. Distance: 15km/10ml.
Altitude gain: 900m/2950ft. Terrain: trails, rocks, snow.
Day 4: Hiking time: 5hrs. Distance: 15km/10ml.
Altitude gain: -900m. Terrain: trails, rocks, snow.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Mourning departure from your hotel towards Lake Mascardi located 25km south of San Carlos de Bariloche. After an introduction in basic techniques and safety procedures on coastal kayaking we will start with our trip. We will stop for having lunch in one of the many lake beaches and we will arrive into the Camping Los Rápidos in the afternoon to enjoy “mate tea”. Time to relax and explore the surrounding forest and the hidden lake Los Moscos before dinner. Night at ORGANIZED CAMPSITE.

Day 2: After breakfast we will prepare our kayaks for the second paddling day. This day we will kayak along the most remote part of Lake Mascardi with amazing views of Cerro Bonete and Mount Tronador (our next adventure). Stop for snack or lunch in an isolated beach before continuing to the head of the lake. Then, transfer to Pampa Linda at the base of Mount Tronador. Night at Hostería Pampa Linda.

Day 3: After breakfast we begin our trek trough a forest of giant beech trees towards the Meiling Mountain Hut at 2000m/6560ft. We stop for a picnic lunch along the way with an amazing view to the Castaño Overo Glacier surrounded with a stunning volcanic landscape. After arriving to the refuge, time at leisure in the afternoon to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Andes. Night at Refugio Otto Meiling.

Day 4: After breakfast we have the chance to approach the cliff beside the glaciers to enjoy the breath taking flight of the Andean Condor. Lunch at the Refuge and get ready to go back to Pampa Linda and transfer to your Hotel in Bariloche.
